Fit ‘n Free

Staying in shape can cost an arm and a leg. Between gym memberships and exercise apparel, a bank account can really take a beating–but it doesn’t have to. If you look around, gyms, community centers and stores offer free classes all the time and I’m here to keep you in the loop.

First up: Lululemon.

Yes, most of you know that Lululemon is one of my favorite shopping destinations, but what you might not know is that almost every Lululemon across the country offers free fitness classes. I’ve had the pleasure in participating in a variety of their community classes-from yoga to ROGA (running+yoga) to TRX, they host it all.

This month, my local Lulu is featuring a “Yoga Studio of the Month” and June’s studio is Satori YogaMary Fox led an hour long Ashtanga session for the 20 or so of us who made it to the store at 9:30 on a Sunday morning. The class was great. Aside from having a great music mix, Mary made posture corrections, was very easy to follow and offered pose variations, so the class was great for all levels. Better yet, the class was a good start to my Sunday and also a great workout-I broke a sweat and I can still feel the burn one day later.

So if you haven’t had a chance yet, check your local Lululemon’s community class schedule. Their program offers a risk free way to try out new classes, meet new people and get in a good workout.

P.S. They also provide mats and equipment-so if you’re a newbie to yoga, ROGA or any other sweaty activity that they offer-don’t worry, they’ll help you out!
