How did two weeks of competition go by so quickly?! I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself now that the Olympics are over, so in an effort to cling to the greatness that is the Olympics, I wanted to share a few of my favorite moments.
Men’s 10,000. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, this was my favorite moment of the entire games. Seeing training partners Mo and Galen take silver and gold was magical, just magical.
Not so much for his Olympic performance (which was great!), but for the ridiculous being that he is. At least he doesn’t take himself too seriously. Here are my top Lochte links.
- Ryan’s catch phrase, “Jeah” is perfect for expressing any emotion. Learn how to use it here in a personal tutorial from the man himself.
- Now that the Olympics are over, everyone knows that Ryan is a great swimmer…interviewee? Not so much.
The Fierce Five. Gabby, McKayla, Jordyn, Aly and Kyla are now household names for their amazing performance during the games. Whether it was McKayla nailing leaving judges in awe during her vault in the team final or Gabby Douglas flying high on the uneven bars, these girls rocked it.
Oscar Pistorius making a mark in Olympics history as the first double amputee to compete in the Olympics. In two weeks, he’ll go on to compete in the Paralympics.
Along with all of the highs of the Olympics, come the lows that are also a part of what makes the Olympic Games so special. Here are a few of the moments that made my heart break a little.
Jordyn Wieber finding out she would not be going to the All Around competition.
Morgan Uceny falling with less than a lap to go in the 1500m, taking her out of the competition. Ironically, this is almost exactly what happened to her at last year’s World Championships.
I could go on and on (Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, Kerri and Misty, the U.S. Women’s Soccer team, The Spice Girls!…), but I’ll save you the brain cells for a Monday morning. See you in Rio!
What were your favorite Olympics moments?
