Happy Tuesday everyone! It’s time for another edition of “Ask A Blogger”.
If you like candy and running, then you’ll love my next blogger guest…Janae Jacobs better known as The Hungry Runner Girl.
Janae is 25 years old, hails from Utah and is one beast of a runner (i.e. she’s going to break 3 hours for her marathon time in 2012). When she’s not running, Janae spends her time baking, travelling, cycling or hanging out with her husband Billy, to whom she’s been married for 2.5 years. Oh yes AND she’s a high school teacher. Phew. So without further ado, I’ll let Janae take over! You can also read more about Janae here.
If you had to describe your blog in 5 words or less, how would you do it? Running, candy, ice cream, more running. (Dang it, that is 6;)
Why did you start blogging? I started blogging when I was injured from a body pump class. I couldn’t run and I was bored out of my mind. My husband knew that I read running blogs and that I loved them and suggested I try a new hobby and start a blog in my free time. I fell in love with the blogging community and I am now hooked.
How do you keep coming up with new content that will keep your readers interested? I have a random brain and I am constantly thinking about random things to blog about. I also read a lot about running and it is easy to find a new running topic to write about in the books and magazines that I read.
Any advice to those who want to start their own blog? My biggest piece of advice is to be yourself, don’t try to be like anyone else because who you are is way better than copying other people. I think that consistency is key for blogging because people want to know that they can come back and see a new update often. Pictures are another thing that are important for blogs….at least for me, I love seeing pictures to go along with what the writer is saying.
Aside from blogging and breaking a sweat, what do you like to do in your free time? I love to read. There are so many amazing books out there and I wish that I had more time to read them. My husband and I love watching tv and usually watch something together everyday. My family is so important to me and I spend a lot of time with them. Other than these things, running and blogging, I guess my job takes up a little of my time too!
Do you have a mantra? This could be anything from a mantra that gets you through tough workouts to a mantra that gets you through tough life situations. PAIN IS TEMPORARY, QUITTING IS FOREVER. This could go for anything in life. We have to remember that we can get through anything in this life and that we have to keep going and doing our best, we will get through the pain.
What’s one food that you couldn’t live without? Ice Cream and Pizza.
What’s your favorite way to break a sweat? RUNNING WAHOO!
Favorite song to work out to? Anything by Eminem and I love the song, ‘All I Ever Wanted’ by Basshunters.
What is one moment where you totally and completely surprised yourself? This could be anything from the way you responded to a tough situation to kicking butt in a race.
My first marathon. I just trained to finish the race and had no idea what pace I was going. I did little to no speed training but ended up with a 3:20 and 5th overall female in the SLC Marathon….I was just a little surprised!
